Very Good

Just returned from a cracking 2 weeks in Haraki - Rhodes.

The apartments are clean and tidy and my daughter who often has to put up with a converted couch in the lounge was given a bed. The windows/doors are fitted with a fine mesh to prevent the ";mozzies"; getting in and you can leave them open to allow a breeze to flow through the apartment, however, at this time of year it's a warm breeze so we opted for the air-conditioning at 7 euros per day. A 3 minute walk will takes you to the beach/tavernas and even though you are this close to the centre they are still very peaceful.

The resort is lovely, a crescent shaped beach which is about 500 metres in length. As you face the beach it starts off pebbly on the right getting more shingly/sandy the furhter left you go. The swimming is excellent but keep an eye on the little ones as the sea shelves quickly. The beach never appears to get over crowded even in August, but does fill up more on the weekends as the locals descend on it. We hired two deckchairs and an umberella for 7 euros per day and the beauty of this place is you can leave the airbeds, rubber rings etc by your beach chairs overnight and nobody touches them ( everybody did it ).

We ate in 5 different tavernas, all were good, with the favourite being Costas and Elenas which is excellent with a good meal for 3 with wine and water costing about 30 Euros, the only downside being he deals in cash so take plenty as there is not a cash machine in Haraki.

On Sunday evenings they erect a stage on the beach and provide entertainment. One week was dancing the other a band. We sat in Coctails and Dreams bar to watch with one pint, one JD and coke, one bottle of water costing 6 euros.

The downsides are very few; the apartment's self catering equipment is seriously only fit for boiling an egg/kettle and making a sandwich. And in a country where the drainage system was designed by a junior school pupil the toilet bins need emptying everyday.

All in all a great holiday we will return!

Overall Hotel Rating:

Our first visit to Haraki - it won't be our last! Fantastic friendly little resort we did not want to leave.

Castle View apartments were lovely, clean, light and airy. Ours had a seperate bedroom, SHOWER CURTAIN!! and an electric kettle. There were fly screens on the windows and the balcony door, so you could leave them open to allow the breeze to come through without the mozzies.

The view from the balcony was really nice, across to the ruined Feraclos castle. At night it was illuminated and the local sheep and goats would make their way up to the top to sleep. If you were really lucky you could catch a glimpse of their shadows as they passed by the floodlights - very spooky!

The beach was nice, pebbly at one end but getting sandier towards the eastern end. Sunbeds were available if you wanted them. There was another stony beach a few minutes walk away past the Argo restaurant which had a few sunbeds - and an army training camp! If you felt like it you could walk a long way down this beach and there was no one around. Agathi beach was about 25 mins walk away, nice and sandy, but really busy.

There were enough bars and places to eat to keep us happy for 2 weeks. Dina and Manolis on the road out of the village was excellent, we were welcomed every time we went there like long lost friends! Da Vinci's was good and so were most of the others. Maria's was very poor, small portions, expensive and surly staff. All the others along the sea front were worth a visit.

Haraki is a very small resort, there are no Discos, but all the bars have Sky TV - we were there during the World Cup - and very friendly staff. If you need a cashpoint you will need to go to Lindos, no problem as there are 2 buses every day and taxis back are reasonable, 15 Euros. Car hire is readily available if you want it.

If you want a quiet, relaxing holiday with no pressure and a flavour of the 'real' Greece, then this is the place for you. Brilliant!!

Overall Hotel Rating:

Very Good

Spent a week in Haraki in Sept. had a great week. Resort quiet and peaceful but near enough to other resorts for a visit. Agathi beach is beautiful.
Castle View apartments were basic but exceptionally clean and well looked after. 2 friends stayed at Maria apartments but their room on ground floor was disappointing, a bit dark and without a balcony or terrrace. Argo restaraunt was expensive and the meal did not reflect value for money. The best food we had was at Davinci's, excellent.
Breakfasts at Haraki Dreams and Jacks bar were great. Manni's Heaven on Earth bar was worth repeated visits for the excellent cocktails and the view from the terrace bar on the first floor.

Will definitely be visiting Haraki again next year.

We visited Rhodes for the first time, after having been to many other Greek Islands. We were overwhelmed by the friendliness of everyone we met in Haraki. The place is so laid-back we had the most relaxing time ever. The Castle View was great(by Greek standards) we had a shower curtain and electric kettle in our 1 bedroom apartment, which was clean and well kept. the owners family live in a house attached to to the apartments, they never intruded, but were always extremely friendly when they saw us.

The village is a joy, just enough tavernas and resturants to allow plenty of choice. The Haraki Dreams Pub is the place to hang out, its main asset is Costas the waiter who has to be the friendliest bloke in the world. Also pay a visit to his wife Elenor who runs a gift shop on the road into Haraki. best place to eat - the new Italian place on the village square Avoid Tommies (appartments and resturant) and Marias place. Also the Argo resturant which seems well over-priced with average quality food.

All in all a great holiday in a wonderful location that you should experience before the developers discover it.

Second time in Haraki, it was like going home.

Even the lady in the supermarket recognised us from 2 years ago.

Haraki Dreams is the place, Mike, Costas and Athena can't do enough for you.

We ate twice at Kiss Burger and enjoyed it both times, but we ate at Dina and Manolis taverna up the road out of Haraki.

It was nice to have a walk before and after our meal. We were made to feel very welcome and visited Dimitria at the shop she works at in Lindos.

All in all another great holiday in Haraki.

More new Greek and English friends, the most friendliest plact in the world.

Apatrments still as lovely as 2 years ago, the cleaner and her 2 children are lovely.

I read on this site about the appartments before booking to get some idea what to go for. They were quiet because they are set away from the sea front (only about 30 meters) and spacious. Ours (no 2) had a bedroom with seperate living/cooking area, a shower curtain and a kettle, all unheard of before in greek accom before on our travels.

Haraki is a lovely little resort and the thing that I liked most about it was the promenade was trafic free. Only place on Rhodes with no cars allowed on sea front (so I was Told). About 12 restaurant/bars line the front and every thing is very friendy and Informal.

We hired a car from mands cars, about halfway down the seafont. 25 euros aday (around £17) inc of insurances. I,ve heard it goes up in price in high summer.

Now the downside, The company we travelled with (Kosmar),I feel offered us poor service. They put two flights together on the out so we went fron stansted to gatwick then to rhodes, this combined with a delay made us 2 hours late, but this was a warm up for the return journey which had a ten hour delay.
Also after requesting a wheel chair for my wife (well in advance of our trip) who has difficulty walking there was no chair at either airport with nobody prepaired to take responsability.

Personally I would not take another holiday with Kosmar and would advise you to think long and hard. My heart goes out to the people who were waiting to get on the plane we left. They had been waiting in Stansted Airport since 7.30 am they were finaly allowed to board around 8pm when we got off, thinking they were finally on there way to Rhodes only to be told that the plane was flying to Exeter Airport to pick up other passengers and finaly then on to Rhodes.
Hope you found this helpfull.

Castle View apartments at Haraki were recommended to us. We weren't disappointed - a beautiful bay, friendly locals and excellent apartments. We tried most of the tavernas but particularly enjoyed the ambience at Costas and Eleanors - we had a birtday party there. the food was excellent, service good at very reasonable prices. Next door at Cocktails and Dreams Mike was the ideal host, often providing free liquers and getting us hooked on popcorn!

Also recommended is the 'Burger bar' where Kentucky Fried Chicken was delicious.
We thoroughly enjoyed a day out on Captain George's boat - and later, drinks with him at DaVincis.
We would go back to Haraki without hesitation - perhaps at a cooler time of year.

After a 7 and a half hour delay we finally arrived in Haraki.
Wow!!! What a beautiful place.
Our apartments were fairly new, 2000 drawn in the concrete outside the gate. Very spacious and airy and mossie blinds at all windows and doors.
We dumped our belongings, got changed and went to the nearest supermarket and actually smallest, to be greated by the friendly owner.
We had walk along the front and were amazed how many Greeks were there, (they come from the other resorts on the island at the weekends to escape the tourists).
We ate in a few of the Taverners all of which are very good. Kiss Grill on the front is great and you have the view. The Italian, DaVinchis, makes lovely pasta and pizzas.
Our favourite was Kostas and Elenor Taverna, next to Cocktails and Dreams Bar. We could not fault anything here, we actually felt like part of the family.
Cocktails and Dreams is the best bar in the village with a pool table and Satalite TV. If that doesn't appeal to you then have a game of Greek Backgammon.
Mike and Athena, the hosts, are wonderful, and within hours were calling us by our fist names.
You find yourself mixing with locals everywhere and they are the best.
We all agree this was our best holiday ever and we will definately be going back to see the friends we made.
None of us wanted to leave and were upset when the coach came.

have stayed at castle view apartments on many occasions, they are situated just behind the beach front apartments but just a short walk to the front (2 mins)extremely clean and quite spacious (3-4 persons)with seperate double bedroom and 2 single in living area, kitchen is fully aquipped and balcony with table and chairs, even a shower curtain as you should know are quite rare!!!prices are very reasonable throughout the year, usually have to book independently due to no holiday companies deal with haraki on a whole, only olympic which have a handful of rooms at quite high prices(package)bar owners and locals alike, are very friendly and always looking after your best interests to make sure you have a fab holiday! theres plenty of restaurants/bars with fabulous food to choose from in this idyllic haven.haraki has its own pebbled beach with sunbeds available but if you want a sandy beach, just a short distance away(3 mins in car or 10-15 mins walking)you will find agathi beach, gorgeous shallow waters,3 tavernas, watersports.thers also a lovely little church built into the rocks!haraki is heaven for those who wish for a relaxed, quite peaceful holiday. once you go,you will always go back!! going again in july 2010

Stayed in Castle View apartments....

Stayed in Castle View apartments. Apartments very clean, bed linen changed twice a week. Fairly central for beach, bars and restaurants. Very good point is that all windows and doors had mosquito screens. Nice to go home without being covered in bites! These apartments very popular, people tend to go back to them year after year. Nice view of Castle which is lit up at night.
Lovely quiet peaceful resort, not really suited for teenagers but our 11 year old daughter loved it, spent lots of time in the sea which is crystal clear ideal for swimming. Sun beds we found a little expensive at 7 euros. Bar owners and shopkeepers extremely friendly. We found the best bar to visit was Jack's bar (they do a lovely English breakfast for 4 euros 20. Also good cocktails.
Very good Italian restaurant but our favourite place to eat was Tommy's restaurant situated by bus terminus) a very good place to eat. Anyone visiting there must try the stuffed chicken with feta cheese and ham. Highly recommended. Owners very friendly (son a Greek footballer) who also helps out in the restaurant at night.
Reasonably priced. We found restaurants along the sea front a little more expensive and not so much atmosphere. All in all we had a very good holiday and would definitely go back there again. Would probably stay at the same Apartments, although the Haraki Village Apartments also looked very nice - overlook the sea.
Haraki only 11 miles from Lindos - bus fare about 1 euro 20. Also bus to Rhodes Town -3 euros.

Castle View Apartments were basic yet...

Castle View Apartments were basic yet fantastic. Quiet, out-of-the-way yet within 2 minutes walk of the beach and village centre. Romantic setting, within blooming Bouganvilla garden with balcony views of the castle ruins which are stunning by day, and by night, when they are lit up and appear even more impressive.
Opening up the sliding glass door onto our private balcony every morning, onto views of olive groves and the castle ruins in the distance was worth every penny!
The only lack of marks given are attributed to the fact that the main bedroom came with semi-comfortable 2 single beds, rather than a double/queen, which is strictly a pet peeve of mine, albeit minor. Also bathroom is typically Greek /Turkish, with shower, sink, and toilet within the same square-meter of space, and no barriers between to keep everything from getting soaked.
